Ver e Ouvir

seeing and listening — guiding your move to Portugal.

When planning or making your move to Portugal, you’ll find plenty of inspiration and information online — on social media, through other people’s stories, in books and articles, or even by visiting the country yourself.

However, there are moments when you need someone on the ground, with the right experience, to see (Ver) and listen (Ouvir) on your behalf — ensuring your interests are truly represented.

Are you looking for a reliable partner to support your move to Portugal?

Then look no further — contact me, Gert Verheij, at Ver e Ouvir!

More than 20 years of experience

In February 2003, my partner Teunie and I moved from the Netherlands to Portugal with our four children, who were then between 9 and 15 years old. We began a completely new chapter of our lives — living, working, and studying in another country.

It marked the start of a wonderful adventure and an invaluable learning experience. We discovered not only the rhythm of everyday life in our new home, but also the cultural and business dimensions that came with it.

For 21 years, we were the proud owners and managers of a small campsite in Ferreira do Zêzere, in central Portugal. For about a decade, I combined this role with a position at an international pensions and insurance consultancy. In 2023, after selling our campsite, we settled in Vale de Santarém.

Drawing on the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over nearly 25 years, I now help others who dream of — or are seriously considering — embarking on a similar adventure.

Services

Ver e Ouvir’s services are divided into three main areas:

    1. Finding your new home

    2. Guidance and support during your move

    3. Entrepreneurial assistance

From experience, I know that everyone’s needs are different — which is why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

That said, my way of working is always practical, results-driven, and attentive to detail.

Finding

Are you searching for your dream home in beautiful Portugal?
Whether it’s a holiday retreat by the sea, a charming house in a traditional village, or a modern villa in the city — the possibilities are endless.

However, finding the right property to buy or rent can be challenging, especially when you have to rely on persuasive descriptions and attractive photos from afar.

That’s where Ver e Ouvir comes in — your trusted eyes and ears on the ground in Portugal!

Guiding

Buying a home and moving in always involves careful planning and plenty of paperwork. An international move adds another layer of complexity: unfamiliar rules, new information, and the challenge of communicating in a foreign language.

In these situations, it’s invaluable to have an experienced partner like Ver e Ouvir, who knows the process inside out and can guide you every step of the way.

Assisting

Are you planning to start or take over a business in your new country of residence? It’s an exciting step, but it can come with significant challenges — especially when dealing with administrative and tax regulations that may be very different from what you’re used to. The good news is, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

With my experience, I offer tailored business support. Whether you need guidance during the crucial start-up phase or ongoing assistance with administrative and tax matters, Ver e Ouvir is here to help every step of the way.

Process

During a free initial online consultation, we’ll discuss your specific needs and goals together. If we determine that I can assist you and decide to work together, I will make sure that all expectations and agreed-upon services are clearly outlined and documented in writing.

This approach also ensures complete transparency regarding financial arrangements. The cost estimate typically includes the expected number of hours and applicable rates, while customized arrangements can always be made to suit your needs.
